{"id":302,"date":"2008-03-31T17:35:01","date_gmt":"2008-03-31T22:35:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thegatesofdawn.ca\/wordpress\/posts\/2008\/03\/31\/a-good-auto-body-shop-in-kitchener-waterloo\/"},"modified":"2021-04-12T23:37:10","modified_gmt":"2021-04-13T04:37:10","slug":"a-good-auto-body-shop-in-kitchener-waterloo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thegatesofdawn.ca\/wordpress\/posts\/2008\/03\/31\/a-good-auto-body-shop-in-kitchener-waterloo\/","title":{"rendered":"A good auto-body shop in Kitchener-Waterloo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I recently had some body work done on my Infiniti G35.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 I&#8217;d rather not talk about it&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, I got quotes from a few different body shops around town.\u00a0 Most were crazy expensive.\u00a0 But one quote stood out from the others.\u00a0 It was from Towne Collision, in Kitchener.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a small shop, mostly just one guy, named Sieg.\u00a0 His quote was very, very reasonable.\u00a0 And he seemed like a great guy.\u00a0 So, I went with him.<\/p>\n<p>His operation is pretty old-school.\u00a0 The tiny little office is lined with pictures of Sieg in the shop, from like 1978.\u00a0 He&#8217;s still wearing the same baseball cap.\u00a0 No computers in the place, he does everything with big books and a telephone.<\/p>\n<p>Just want to say, his work was flawless, and done right on time.\u00a0 Being a one-man shop, I had to wait a while before he could start the job, but when he started, he was done when he said he would be done.\u00a0 The paint match was perfect, no sign that there was ever any damage.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m always frustrated when I have to choose somebody for work like this, on a car or house or whatever, by the lack of independent opinions to be found.\u00a0 So, I&#8217;m putting this one out there on the inter-tubes: you can do a lot worse than Towne Collision for auto-body work.\u00a0 Good work, and priced right.<\/p>\n<ul>Update June 16, 2015:<\/ul>\n<p>I have disabled comments on this post. I wrote this post about Towne Collision, but the comments have been dominated by reviews of Rowa Collision, mostly positive, a few negative. I&#8217;ve never been to Rowa, so I have no opinion on it.<\/p>\n<ul>Update Jan 13, 2017:<\/ul>\n<p>I took my truck&#8217;s tailgate to Towne Collision to fix up a dent that was starting to rust.  When I went to pick it up, I was sad to hear that Sieg has passed away.  He was working right up to the last.
