Like anyone with a toddler at home, our TV is permanently glued to the children’s TV channel.\u00a0 Treehouse TV.<\/p>\n
I watch a lot of these children’s TV series these days.\u00a0 Enough to form opinions of them.<\/p>\n
I like it.\u00a0 I often wonder why Big doesn’t kick Small’s self-centered ass to the curb.\u00a0 But it’s funny, with that straight-man\/funny-man comic duo thing happening.\u00a0 And the songs are often surprisingly good.<\/p>\n
Somewhat formulaic, but apparently classic.\u00a0 All the real train lingo appeals to the latent trainspotter in me.\u00a0 I kinda prefer the earlier ones shot with physical models over the later CGI ones.\u00a0 They’re primitive, but they have charm.\u00a0 But even the CGI ones play it pretty realistic, unlike…<\/p>\n
An obvious rip-off of Thomas.\u00a0 I find it very distracting how the CGI trains bounce and flail around all the time.\u00a0 I just don’t think a 70 ton locomotive should bounce around like a caffeinated chihuahua.<\/p>\n
This is actually quite watchable.\u00a0 Not too formulaic.<\/p>\n
Episodes are very short, just filler really.\u00a0 Each episode is one of the four different segments.\u00a0 I will review each of them separately.<\/p>\n

This is apparently the new Teletubbies.\u00a0 Kinda trippy.\u00a0 About 15 seconds of story, stretched out to 30 minutes, but can be fun if you’re in the right frame of mind.<\/p>\n
The birds… I mean, “tittifers”… are disturbing.\u00a0 They look like real birds, but they move like they’ve been hollowed out and their innards replaced with jerky robotics.\u00a0 Way down near the bottom of the uncanny valley<\/a>.<\/p>\n WTF is this shit?\u00a0 Crystals, yoga, chanting, meditation, levitating CGI creatures?\u00a0 It’s a steaming pile of New Agey spiritual mumbo-jumbo.\u00a0 It’s downright creepy.\u00a0 The poor human kids that appear in this thing… I expect they’ll be permanently damaged by the experience.<\/p>\n Ron shakes his fist at the irritating show.\u00a0 Shake your fist!<\/p>\n One of the kids reminds me of a bully I knew in public school.\u00a0 I dislike it for that reason alone.\u00a0 But it’s also really stupid.<\/p>\n Lame-o.\u00a0 Mega lame-o.\u00a0 Painful to watch.\u00a0 Why do they have to keep singing the same damn song over and over?\u00a0 Why don’t they use some of that teamwork to whip up some new songs?<\/p>\n Not very interesting, not very lame.\u00a0 Just boring.<\/p>\n Sometimes manages to draw me in, somehow.\u00a0 I like how the stories explore different parts of the world, different periods in history, different genres.<\/p>\n Weird-looking animation.\u00a0 3D CG animation but rendered to look like 2D cel animation.\u00a0 It doesn’t work for me.\u00a0 And why does she have those four big thick black hairs, in addition to her regular hair?<\/p>\n I think this is supposed to teach kids the scientific method or something.\u00a0 But they never really answer the question themselves.\u00a0 The cow always hands them the answer.\u00a0 In real science, there’s no talking cow to give you the answer.<\/p>\n Seriously trippy.\u00a0 The people who make this show are getting some really good shit.<\/p>\n Pretty formulaic, but can be funny.\u00a0 Max has some great toys, like the Screaming Blue Alien Gorilla, and the wind-up clockwork lobster that chases him around.<\/p>\nWaybuloo<\/h4>\n
