I am a Shanghainese girl living in Canada. I landed as an immigrant to Canada in November, 2003 for my master’s degree at the University of British Columbia. According to Canadian government, for the first five years, landed immigrants are treated as new immigrants. So I am still new to the Country… probably you can tell from my ability to use English. I like to write, but mostly in Chinese of course. But it is time to change now, I married a Canadian who can only speak Canadian English. I am working in a Canadian company where I work with lots of native English speakers with different regional accents of course. Until now, I still can not follow most Scottish people’s talking at work place, but they will not slow down just for me of course. I try as many ways I can to catch up my language capability. High marks in TOEFL and GRE don’t help me join people’s talking and make fun of them(I enjoy that sometimes). I push myself to write blog in English. It is not that easy for me, so please don’t laugh at my writing!
